You are a foalish Iggy Pop in all the best ways!!!
"It was the body leaving me and not the other way around. But I learned with practice to surrender to these involuntary Irish exits. At odds, then at ease…" gasp! so good!
And I love that you toss this giant nugget of wisdom off as a side note: "We overexpose sex and underexpose intimacy. So it seems like a radical act to love one’s body as an ally, for what it can do, and what it does."
Wow. Always wow with you. I love the graceful landing of this--coming back into your body along with another sharing in that containment or not just sharing, but dependent on it for their embodiment. Beautiful essay as ever my friend. I will think about this one for a long, long time. X!
I know this was a big risk for you putting this out thinking not many people would relate, but I found it actually very touching and relatable. Great job Momma!
I love the prompt about punctuation and prose. The link to Wings of Desire is perfect. It was always a (slightly embarrassing 😳) challenge for me to match different media with the literature I was teaching so I revel in being a virtual student (teacher) here. 🤍
A very heartfelt thank you, Liana! And I'm so happy you're sharing here. That movie is really something, isn't it? It's like an epic poem...sometimes frustrating for some students who want more...plot? Movement (in addition to the trapeze!...)? But in total, afterwards, it would always be one of those works that students would refer to often over the course of the year...keeps on giving; know what I mean?

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing. I immediately added the poem to prose idea to my plans for this year!
